Holy Cross Lutheran Church – New Church and School Campus
The Holy Cross Lutheran Church commissioned Synthesis Partners, Inc. in 2001 to master plan a ten-acre campus, which will incorporate a church and school. The 400 student K-8 school will operate in conjunction with a preschool, a church sanctuary, and support facilities. The school, preschool, and church will jointly use a 7,000 s.f. multi-purpose building, fellowship hall, and kitchen facility, as well as outdoor activity areas, sports fields, and parking facilities.
The architectural design theme has been developed to blend into and enhance the surrounding neighborhood environment. With the use of standing seam metal roofing, plaster finished walls, arches, and detailing, along with the incorporation of native stone veneer accents, this architectural theme is best stated as California Prairie Style.
The public gathering plaza, the common cross window element, and the Clock Tower all serve to unify the campus while each building has been created to define its use.
Synthesis has diligently developed a design solution that not only satisfies the needs of its users while achieving the project budget goals, but also satisfies the desire to enrich the built environment through creative design.
