Ohlone College – New Science Laboratories
Ohlone College Science Department was required to vacate the science building on campus due to unsafe conditions while still needing to house the science instructional classrooms and laboratories, offices, and storage spaces.
ImageWorks was asked by the college to develop design solutions for interim housing until the new state-of-the-art science building could be designed and constructed in approximately five years. The design team developed a modular building solution which meets the interim needs of the science department for a minimum 10 years. Incorporated into the design solutions was dimmable daylighting which eliminates the need for artificial lighting during daytime classes. Also, included was the addition of much needed parking adjacent to the building and in the core of the campus.
This new science facility will serve the college well until which time a new science facility can be designed and constructed.
