Church of Glad Tidings – Education Center, Phase 1 of a Multi-phase Master Plan
The Church of Glad Tidings continues to experience a growing congregation requiring expansion of its existing facilities.
With the opportunity to purchase 23 acres adjacent to the existing church, the congregation formed an expansion committee, chose to team with Synthesis Partners, and began the programming process. The master planning solution utilizes 10 acres of the 23 acres and provides necessary parking, takes advantage of outdoor spaces for gathering places and gardens, and will be constructed in four phases.
The new Education Center was chosen to be the first building of this multi-phase expansion because of the immediate need for classroom facilities in this growing congregation. Knowing that this church congregation has a passion for serving the needs of the local community, we were able to develop a design solution that gives the church the versatility to offer classroom instruction to the community at large throughout the week while serving the needs of the congregation mid-week and on the weekends.
One of the unique characteristics of the congregation was the exceptional construction talent of its members. Volunteers will provide 90 percent of all labor for this four-phase project. Skeptical at first, but willing to work with the church, we have successfully completed this new Education Center with volunteer labor and look forward to the next phase.
Working with church congregations and developing creative and practical design solutions for our clients is both exciting and rewarding for our design teams.
