Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church - Church Campus Expansion
The congregation of Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church embarked on a church expansion with Synthesis Partners at the end of 1999. With a growing congregation had come the need for a new larger Sanctuary, a new larger Fellowship Hall, and new classrooms. We worked with the church building committee on multiple design alternatives which explored the many possible solutions before determining the best set of design characteristics that met the project program. The design solution features a dynamic 400-seat sanctuary in an octagonal building configuration and exposed heavy timber framing. The exterior architecture blends well with the existing facility, repeating a low sloping roof and exterior plaster finish while incorporating the use of standing seam metal roofing. The site master planning solution provided an excellent opportunity to create a park-like environment and a very functional and intimate outdoor gathering space unifying the existing with the new building, as well as meeting the demanding parking requirements.
Working with church congregations and developing creative and practical design solutions for our clients is exciting for Synthesis Partners and a specialty of our design teams.
