Long Valley Charter School – New K-8 Campus

Long Valley Charter School contacted Synthesis Partners in March of 2010 in immediate need of a new school campus because the school was required to move from their current facility by July 2010. We worked diligently to develop solutions for an interim campus to be ready to occupy by July 2010 while we continued planning for a permanent campus to ready for occupancy by August 2011. After working with the school, we were able to develop potential solutions for an interim campus; and ultimately the school was able to work out the details to remain at their current school campus for one year, thus not needing an interim campus.

We then focused our attention on the needs of the school for a new K-12 campus in the community of Doyle. This design process will continue through the spring of 2012 with construction documents and agency approvals being completed in late spring and summer of 2012. Construction will begin in the early fall of 2012 through early summer 2013. Budget being a major concern, we worked with the school development team to develop options for reducing costs. What worked best for the school was to design a campus with a combination of modular and permanent buildings, thus meeting the project goals.

What our client appreciated most about how ImageWorks approached this project: we listened to where the needs were and focused on solving the issues, like developing solutions for an interim campus, working with the local agencies to find suitable land to develop a school, and working with funding in order for the school to keep students in classrooms. ImageWorks approaches projects globally and develops solutions often out of the realm where most of our colleagues provide services.
